"Well maybe he wanted the review to make sure he didn't violate the law."

That is the lamest exuse ever. Please come up with a better argument.

"I saw a whole lot of people on this forum yelling to put troops on the border, and snickering that the National guard was patrolling the airports with unloaded guns."

The military's presence at airports was only meant to be a temporary safety precaution, not a permanent policy.

"You tell me given the fact that Bush as CIC can declare martial law anyway."

I want to know what martial law means to you, before I answer that question.

Well, dangit, all of the other threads that I have seen where FiJC has posted are pulled...being on the left coast and coming here "after the moment", so to speak, has been frustrating.
I wish the moderators would lock the thread, and not delete it.

Okay, so I wandered into a love fest? I will most definately go back and read this. Love fest...hummmmm...

Ya, isn't it grand that we all choose to hold our chosen icon's feet to the fire, and point out their each and every flaw, in hopes that we may make them a more perfect icon, and a yet more effective revealer of and leader along the one true path into the city on the hill?

Now, pare that list down to initiatives that Bush enacted, along with the tax increases instituted to pay for them. Thanks,

I'm stopping @400 because Sean seems to have made his point . I'll go out to top off the cat's trough 's . Lock the caddy and oust the lights in the garden .

Double check the safety of wing's , then add a blankie to her .

After I fix her hair as she tenderly sleeps ; her subtle smile does not escape me .

Say good night to somebody ..

By infringing on the rights of the people to freedom of speech and to petition the government for a redress of grievances during election cycles.

What I am asking you, is if you believe it is the military's legitimate role, to participate in the arrests, searches, and seizures, of American citizens and their homes.

all of those were inacted, Bush has yet to veto anything.

A tax/increase is irrelevent to making government smaller, he still hasn't decreased the size and scope of government at all. In fact, he has done just the opposite of that. I dont expect a Harry Browne to get elected, but I will only vote for someone who gets it moving in the right direction. Bush is not taking it in the right directly, he's just 'not as bad as the other guy.' Hardly a motivation to vote for him.

I asked for specifics. What in CFR limits citizens' freedom of speech? And where in the heck did CFR impede our right to petition the government for redress of our grievances?

Obviously both Bush and Ridge feel this is appropriate enough to encourage Congress to take a second look at the Posse Comitatus Act.

I find this very disturbing, and so should you.

How many were enacted in the last two years?

Is it just me...
I have seen the same people on several very interesting threads recently.
The result has been locking, and pulling, the thread and the suspension of, at least, one FReeper.

Okay...I'm not on the cutting edge...;o)

Martial law is just what it sounds like.

Governance is taken out of the hands of the civil authorities and given to the military which can impose such rules as it sees fit to restore and maintain order.

That's a bit trickly in war and a slack economy. Other than blowing out the disgraceful farm bill, and the steel quotas, why don't you just list the cuts you favor. Please try to find some that are in double digit billions. Ranting about the Endowment for the Humanities or PBS simply won't cut it.

No you asked me if an old redneck knows what martial law means.
