"Do you really think this stupid poll affects anything, stupid?"
Cowards like you caused America to lose the Vietnam War. The anti-war movement was started by enemy agents by turning the opinions of a small, but vocal group of idiots. That small group grew into a majority of Americans that were opposed to the war in Vietnam. This small group undermined the entire war effort.
This time around the stakes are higher! If we don't take out Saddam, then he will strike at the U.S. with nukes!
As far as the 3,000 dead Americans, it was not an WMD as is normally defined, it was a 747. And even Iraq's worst enemies (including those in the Bush White House) have not been able to link Iraq to those. If they were, they damned well should have attacked by now.
And since, at the moment, all we are doing is sitting around beating our chests, getting all wound up, giving Saddam Hussein time to prepare (who in hell is planning this thing, anyway?), why not go to Congress and demand a formal declaration? Can you give me a good reason?
Oh I can predict your answer: because the candyasses in Congress would say "No". Probably true. So, there is your answer...according to the Constitution (maybe you've heard of it) we (President Bush) would be obligated to abide by that decision.
But there is nothing preventing him from using his bully pulpit to call out every one of the dissenting votes and making them pay in November. If his cause is as righteous as you seem to feel it is, it should be a cakewalk.
It was the great Roman orator Cato the Elder, during the Third Punic War, that ended every speech with a thundering, "Carthago delende est!" ("Carthage must be destroyed!". Carthage ultimately was.
Bush could profit from his example.
Keep in mind we can all sit here and talk big, but some poor kid is going to have to go over there and actually be in harms way and maybe come home in a bag. I fought in one war that nobody could explain, I don't want to see other young men and women have to do the same. Watch "Black Hawk Down" and remember that those guys died for the glory of UN nation building under Mr. Clinton. We had know business being in Somalia, we have no business being in Bosnia, we had no business being in Serbia, and I see no business in being in Iraq at this time. If there is justifiable cause to go into Iraq then let the President come out in public, give a speech explaining those reasons, get a declaration of war from Congress and then let's roll. If he can't or won't do that then I will not blindly back more foreign incursions.
Let the flaming begin!
Should the US attack Iraq?
Thank you for participating in our poll. Here are the results so far.
Yes 52%
No 48%
You're wrong...it was NOT the lame, useless UN...it was the "coalition" that was gathered at the time. Which, is even MORE reason to attack now. So, just because we "HAD" a chance 10 years ago & didn't take it, THAT'S your argument for not attacking NOW? And a gift to daddy? What kind of crap is that? How about giving the American people the gift of LIFE,without the threat of nuclear attack from Islamic finatics?
You seem to be suggesting that we attack those with 747 technology...
And I guess that whole silly Constitution need not apply anymore, now that your boy is in office. What the hey, if Clinton can think he knows more than Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, et alia, than Bush must think he does too. Consitution? Who needs it? What did it ever do for us?
Well, That about sums up your political affiliation. So, you're of the opion just to wait them out UNTIL they get the delivery system for the nukes? Go back to Florida & have another chad fest.
