July 31, 2002 -- JERUSALEM - Israel has canceled an Albert Einstein exhibit in China after Beijing officials insisted there be no reference to his being Jewish or a supporter of the Jewish state, a government spokesman said yesterday.
The collection of Einstein memorabilia was to open in Beijing next month and travel to five other Chinese cities, in the biggest cultural exchange ever between the two countries.

I'm not sure what kind of Chinese you know, but none of the Chinese I know have any problems with Jews.
I believe the 9/11 comment stems from the fact that we are seen as the world's policeman. I don't think it has much to do with Jews per se.
By the way, I don't think I'd poke too hard at their English skills if I were you.

Could be the anti-religious bent of the Chinese government. These guys are very pro Pali tho. Disturbing.

OOP, my bad grammer, not theirs. Parapharased, their discussion was something like this....we support Israel, Israel is evil and has no right to exist...who do these nasty Israelis think they are taking land away from these Arabs who've always lived there. No wonder these Arabs want to bomb us...
Since China doesn't particularly care for India either, they'll pick Pakistan/Wahabbism's side in the Kashmir conflict too. What they don't stop to think about is that the Saudis and others are funding and building mosques hand over fist in China(especially western China) and Jihad will be in THEIR backyard before long. I also should have been more explicit and said these were Chinese from the mainland, I haven't encountered any very anti-semitic Taiwanese and it never occurred to me that mainland Chinese would be any different. Oh yeah, guess which side these guys took in the 'surveillance plane' episode? (hint, not the US's even though two of them are 'nationalized' citizens...yay, fifth column here we come!)

Yes, they can be criticized for selling to the Chinese. I am curious, though. Was this during the world boycott on trade with Israel? They are much criticized for trading with South Africa during Apartheid. But I know for a fact that this was during a time when the rest of the world was isolating them by refusing to trade with them. They were more or less forced into it in that case, and there was much objection to it within Israel itself (where dissent is actually allowed and takes place vociferously and constantly).
