New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is eyeing a presidential run in 2004, Weekly Standard editor William Kristol said Tuesday; with a strategy that includes accepting a draft by her fellow Democrats who will see her as more presidential than her competition.
"Look, she's not going to say she's running at this point," Kristol told Fox News Channel's "On the Record" host Greta Van Susteren.
But that doesn't mean much right now, the influential Republican warned.
"(Hillary's) going to be very visible. And I suspect what will happen is that around October-November of 2003 people might look at the field - there's Gore again, there's Gephardt, there's Kerry. People aren't too enthusiastic about any of them."
Kristol predicted that at that point, disheartened Democrats will turn to Hillary to rescue their party.
"There will be a little bit of a draft Clinton bandwagon the way there was for (Colin) Powell in 1995. Or the way there was for Mario Cuomo in 1991. Now Cuomo chose not to get in at the last minute. But I don't rule out Mrs. Clinton getting in."
And if she does, says Kristol, "she will be a formidable candidate."
"She has a chance," the one-time chief of staff to Vice President Dan Quayle predicted. "I think it's on her mind."
The GOP journalist noted that Clinton "stole the show" at the Democratic Leadership Council convention in New York yesterday.
"She gave a presidential level performance," Kristol observed - and no other candidate measured up.
"Gephardt bombed. He gave a very long speech today, very dull," he said. "Gore didn't show up. Edwards was pretty good but a little bit light, maybe, and inexperienced."
What about Vice President Al Gore, who stayed away from the DLC convention even though he was in New York having lunch just a few blocks away?
"They're waiting for Al Gore with fear and dread," said Kristol. "I think he will run and he will not win the nomination."

Every American's nightmare, if this thing actually wins.

Hillary running in '04 would be laughable, if not for the dimbulbs out there who would vote for her.

Let her run. Then we can give her financials the same treatment the Dems have been giving Bush's and Cheney's. Won't that be fun?

Oh, I hope she is the nominee. Every scandal from the Clinton era will be brought out all over again, and it will stick to the Queen Bitch because she doesn't have Bubba's ability to slime his way out of things. President Bush will mop up the floor with Hitlery.

Yes let her run. Then we can see on a national stage the kind of logic today which claimed that "Republican economic policies ruined her husbands economy" and "Republican economic policies effect no-one."

What I can't figure out is why this needed to be a whole article at NewsMax.
It's not like WE haven't discussed this before.

Ridiculous, they can't even stand her in New York, in Peoria they are simply not ready to see Marines saluting Mrs I Hate the Military while we are engaged in armed combat and, make no mistake, we will be engaged.

It would be fun....if that treatment was seen beyond the confines of this website. The mainstream media won't touch it. Not only that, but I have a feeling that all she will have to do is put on a pink outfit, bring up "the children", and the sheeple will fall in line. Of course, no Republican will dare get tough with her.

Ah, but who needs the lamestream media? We now have the internet. And if anyone still thinks that it's not a force to be reckoned with, then I recommend a look back to those great days of yesteryear, when Bubba had his traitorous fat @ss impeached. Thanks in no small part to the internet. And if Her Heinous runs, well let's just say that Bubba was a warm-up.

You should have heard "Mini Robert" tonight on Hannity trying to explain why tax cuts that have not even taken effect yet have caused the decrease in tax revenue and the drop in the stock market. Kudos to the Pubbie Congressman who came with facts and didn't back off. Noted tax revenue jumps following the Kennedy and Reagan tax cuts. He and Hannity also double teamed him on the Republicans balancing the budget against the wishes of Clinton.
Little Robert looked rattled by the end of his segment.

I also appreciated Hannity's asking Reich if Reich wanted to ask taxpayers for their money back. Reich looked a deer in the headlights after that one.
