[history]
One of the largest Chinese telecommunications equipment suppliers, Huawei Technologies Company, recently unveiled plans to establish Future Wei, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary with headquarters in Plano, Texas.
Ordinarily, such a foreign investment in the United States would be welcomed by the local Chamber of Commerce and others anticipating associated employment and revenue opportunities. As Americans learn more about the parent company and what Chinese enterprises like it are up to, however, patriots in Texas and elsewhere in this country are likely to say "No way, Huawei!"

Huawei makes equipment that competes with Cisco. When you deal with a Chinese govt or Chinese corporation, non-disclosure agreements are not valid and secrecy is not protected - since intellectual property under Chinses law does not exist.
This is a security threat in terms of industrial espionage.

Regardless of whose name is shown, or whether he is claimed to be " ex-military " , all industry in China is owned by the Peoples' Liberation Army; which uses the profits to buy military goods and services.

Intellectual property is a one way street for China, right, good point.

And more, every company formed in China by outsiders requires at least one member of the Party to be present on the board. Meanwhile all communications out of China is monitored by the same companies.
I continue to be amazed at the foolishness of companies suckered into the aggreements with the ChiComs who rip off all the technology and eviscerate the capability to continue any business there.

Although they would be bored with my E-mails, just the thought of another country reading them sends chills down my spine. We live in enough of an "open society" without giving a gold plated invitation to be monitored.
