Thanks to Management for restoring this thread to the spot where late-comers can find it most easily.

I wonder how the families reacted, in their private moments, to a finish like this.

I'd do a bunch of tears-of-joy rejoicing, and shortly after my loved one emerged, I'd probably fall deep asleep in emotional exhaustion.
