I hope somebody remembered to duct-tape a flashlight to the phone they're going to lower down into the hole. Its pitch dark down there, the miner's lamps are surely exhausted by now, and its nighttime in PA. Unless the phone smacks one of them on the head at the bottom, how will they know its there?

They have to take the drill bit out before they put the phones down the hole. Removing the drill will take an hour or so because it is providing a pressure seal that will be maintained with other equipment that has to be moved into place.
