I found this information awhile ago on a favorite web site: WWW.WorldWar1.com

I highly recommend it to those who are interested in the period.

The group of seven ranged in age from 19 to 27. Only one had a police record which was only for striking a teacher. They were all members of the secret Serbian nationalist movement Mlada Bosna ("Young Bosnia"). All had tuberculosis, a death sentence in 1914.

Nedjelko Cabrinovic
Vasco Cubrilovic
Trifko Grabez
Danilo Ilic
Mohammed Mehmed Basic
Cvijetko Popovic
Gavrilo Princip

Their training and arms came from Belgrade's "Union or Death" terrorist league. This faction of the Serbian "Black Hand" was under the leadership of a "Colonel Apis" (the bee), whose real identity was Colonel Dragutin Dimitrievitch, no less than the head of Serbian military intelligence.

The assassins returned to Sarajevo on Jun-3 with pistols, bombs and cyanide to await the visit of the Archduke.

You know what's funny?

I went to school in Germany, and in the the 6th or 7th grade we had history class about WWI. That was about 1987 and I will never forget this GERMAN history book. The composition of the population in Bosnia was, according to this GERMAN book, serbs, croats and "mohamedanische Serben"!

But that was the good old 80's! Nowadays it's not like that anymore. I came to the conclusion that german history sience is not very consistent.....

1. Union or Death? It was a freaking motto, not a "terrorist league" (geez!!!).

2. Apis means wasp, not bee. It's an obsolete term nowadays.

3. Col. Dimitrievich is my idol! LOL! :-))))

Add to post #70

Assasination of Archiduke Ferdinand was a messy affair!Princip&Co were ill prepared and without any military expirience! Before the car with Ferdinand had reached Princip, two or three attempts were made on his life!A hand granade thrown on the car failed to explode(?)another assasin missed.....Then,Ferdinand refused to cut the wisit short and continued.....and he was shot by an amateurish Princip only because his car had to stop!!!

One question for all:

What the history would say if a Mohamed Basic(a Muslim member of Young Bosnia) was succesfull and assasinated the Duke before Gavrilo Princip?????
