~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself)
~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)

Thanks, spore-gasm!! The part about the jeep being paid off in cash is really interesting, since Ed Smart never made ANY mention of cash changing hands on the deal. As I recall, Ed made it very clear that the jeep had been WORKED OFF......not PAID OFF.

(Know where I can order one of those crocheted stuffed animals? Those sound like real collectors' items.......LOL!!)

Thanks spore-gasm.

I bet Angela wishes she had not wasted her $50,000 paying off Ricci's debts now.

Freedox, I expect if Ricci is ever charged with anything pertaining to Elizabeth his crocheted stuff will be on ebay...maybe Angela can even re-coop some of her lost $$$ selling his cute crocheted cuddlies...;-p

"There's something wrong there, because if he was supposed to put 1,000 miles on it, I don't know when the hell he had the time to do it," he said.

Morse also questioned whether Ricci had ever picked up the Jeep from the shop. "They didn't have the money to get it out," he said.

David Morse says that police seized a tan hat, identical to this one except for its color, from his mobile home Thursday.

"They were just getting to where they were getting on their feet a little bit and then this happened. Now they're back in the hole a little bit."

Dave Smart, Elizabeth's uncle, said the Jeep was a gift of gratitude from his brother to Ricci for work well done.

"This worker was doing a lot of work for Ed and was very skilled and did a good job, and Ed was just wanting to help him get back up on his feet," Smart told CNN's "Larry King Live."

Though giving the Jeep was "a little bit unusual," he said, "This was a method of helping both of them to an end."

(Not that I believe this, it is a disgusting thought, but sorry, I could never get the connection that if the Smarts are gay men, they would sell a girl..)

You can take it to the bank, IMO, that no one has "sold" anyone. It is possible, however, that the Smart brothers had shady dealings with Ricci and his friends and really aren't sure if the handyman knows more than he is telling. If so, hesitation by the Smarts to absolutely condemn him is understandable. Plus, they wouldn't want to ruin the family's reputation if it isn't absolutely necessary and they believe the girl is safe.

"Dave Smart, Elizabeth's uncle, said the Jeep was a gift of gratitude from his brother to Ricci for work well done."

So let me see......Ed Smart says the jeep was PAYMENT for services rendered, David Smart says it was a GIFT, and Angela Ricci says it was paid off in CASH. What I find to be really ironic is that this jeep has now become the focal point of the investigation......and was actually still titled to Ed Smart during the crucial May 31-June 8 time period.

I don't know if these are copycat abductions and killings, or if with the new alerts systems, where the alarm goes out over the airwaves, and that means we hear about these abductions much faster.

It's about time the media concentrated on child abductions -- these are our children we're talking about!

As far as the recent "rash" of abductions, none seem to follow any "copy-cat" pattern. For example, the most recent in St. Louis was by an alleged perpetrator who lived in a deserted factory; it's doubtful he even read newspapers or watched TV. The one in Philadelphia apparently has some sort of gang-related activities involved.

Where I live, everyone is big on neighborhood watch programs. Great. How about intense neighborhood children watch programs? Parents keeping abreast of state and local law enforcement postings of convicted and released sexual predators in neighborhoods. They are usually posted on LE websites with pictures and status quo.

Rewriting the laws would be a great start!

Have to disagree. More gun laws don't keep weapons out of the hands of criminals. More laws won't stop criminals, there are plenty of laws on the books now.

Parents, grandparents, relatives and friends of children need to take up the cause big time.

BTW, welcome to freerepublic!

These people must be eliminated from society for good.

Any organism that is incapable of eliminating its waste will soon die.

I'll respond to this after I get up and take a bathroom break. Thanks for the reminder.

"The story re-caps MK's account of the abductor taking Elizabeth out of the room, going to the bathroom where they talked, then returning to get the shoes."

As far as I know, that part about Elizabeth and the abductor going into a bathroom prior to getting her shoes and leaving has only been reported by the tabloids.......but it has been repeated in a number of articles. To me, that is something that does NOT fit with an abduction scenario, particularly since there were other family members sleeping in bedrooms off of that same hallway. I wonder about that piece of information.......

At least Jolly attacked somebody who is not even on the boards, but from an email. Jolly is right, that email just lost all credibility and is just dribble because they could not even name the correct suspect.

Just keep reading this thread, believe me there are plenty of bozos that post here. I really just learned in the last 5-10 years that people operate from their own, chosen, personally self-serving perspectives and no amount of facts or logic will ever deter them from their convoluted mentality. Sorry, but it's true and symptomatic of our depraved society today.
