A member of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission said in Detroit on Friday he could foresee a scenario in which the public would demand internment camps for ArabAmericans if Arab terrorists strike again in this country. I can foresee a situation in which Arab Americans beg to be placed in internment camps.
On this story in general, I can't imagine the locals in rural AL putting up with this, post 9/11.

A good friend of mine is Chinese and told me that during WWII he wore a large cardboard sign around his neck proclaiming that "I am CHINESE NOT JAPANESE" in order to avoid getting beaten up. In his opinion the Japanese were done a favor by being interred.
I believe you are right and that it may not be long before the average muslim is begging for protection.
