Coming soon:
milk, butter, cheese--the dairy industry;
beef, pork--the meat industry;
second-hand smoke from anything that pollutes the atmosphere, including private homes--"Get your neighbors!";
television, recording companies, movies--the entertainment industry--"I didn't get enough exercise";
colleges and universities, public schools--stress from having to study and take exams, "It made me overeat and sometimes take to cigarettes and alcohol", "AND I didn't have time to exercise;
wine--"Every time I took a sip I wanted some cheese;
everything on the stock market--"The stress made me eat cheesburgers"...
The list goes on and on. It's enough to make you go to law school.

I'm going to sue in a related matter. Yesterday, I had fat spilling over onto my thigh from the Jabba like passenger next to me on the train. The horror....

The aim of the legal action is to force the fast-food industry to "offer a larger variety to the consumers, including non-meat vegetarian, less grams of fat, and a reduction of size" of their meals, ...The aim of the legal action is to extort money for bottom-feeding, scum-sucking trial lawyers. This kind of legal action will continue until the US adopts a "loser pays" tort system.

Yes, I'm waiting breathlessy for our lawmakers, the large majority which are lawyers themselves, to institute tort reform.

So this man had NO common sense? He did not know that if you added mashed potatoes, french fries, cheese on the burgers and a milkshake you would get fat?

KFC spokeswoman Amy Sherwood said her company couldn't comment on the lawsuit because it hadn't yet been served, but dismissed the idea that the fried-chicken chain ought to be held responsible for anyone's health problems.
How long did Colonel Sanders live to be, 90? Yes, the chicken really did him in, unless he was just eating lettuce and drinking water his whole life.

Walter Olson, a Manhattan Institute fellow specializing in legal-system issues, called the suit a blatant attempt to cash in on the recent publicity over obesity and the tobacco settlements. He also said it disregarded the idea that people are responsible for their own actions. It is also the inevitable result of nanny government allowed to develop unimpeded.
The natural result of the controllers among us being allowed to run things.
The combination of governement and the neurotic is deadly.
Ultimately to whom remains to be seen.
This is the the other side of the coin of let them eat cake, an arrogance that goes beyond words and given substance and palpable menace by a court system that is indistinguishable from a dark humor movie.
But in a truly free society (if there still be such a thing) dangerous over-reaching has consequences.
Most dangerous to whom remains to be seen.

"The lead plaintiff, 56-year-old maintenance supervisor Caesar Barber, ate at fast-food restaurants four or five times a week and blames his fatty diet for his obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol and the two heart attacks he has suffered. "I trace it all back to the high fat, grease and salt, all back to McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King there was no fast food I didn't eat, and I ate it more often than not because I was single, it was quick and Im not a very good cook," Barber said in an interview with Foxnews.com.
This reads like a parody.
This fat slob ought to be fined for a frivolous lawsuit, then ordered to do laps around Central Park.

Here's what kills me:
The aim of the legal action is to force the fast-food industry to "offer a larger variety to the consumers, including non-meat vegetarian, less grams of fat, and a reduction of size" of their meals, along with federal legislation that would require warning labels on fast food similar to those on tobacco products, Hirsch said.
and...
Israel Bradley, 59, said his ritual of eating a pound of french fries a week
Something tells me that fatasses like Mr. Bradley ARE NOT going to opt for the "reduced sized" meals. You know, old sayings are around for a reason, BECAUSE THEY'RE TRUE! "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!!!" You eat crap, you look and feel like crap.

Isn't this lawsuit only begging for the Govt to step in and control these companies more? What a crock this suit is! How can he balem them for a decision HE made? He made the choice to walk in the front door! Absurd!

And these places have salads and chicken and such.
And it won't be long before someone sues the vegan industry for promoting a non-meat diet (which can have negative side effects as well).
To: Mfkmmof4
I am going to Burger King right now!
To: JoeGar
Took the words right out of my mouth. Lawsuits like these may finally be the "bridge too far" for the trial lawyers.
To: RedBloodedAmerican
I hate lawyers.
