There were scratch marks on his arm shown at the preliminary hearing but not talked about at trial. Nothing that would explain blood like on the jacket (and no incriminating DNA in the scratches on him, and his DNA not found under her fingernails).
I am not aware of an explanation for how his blood got there and if he ever offered one to the police it was not revealed to the jury.
