It makes no sense for a defendant who is innocent to waive his right to a speedy trial...Especially if he/she is already a prisoner in jail and can't get bail. If they waived there right to a speedy trial they could be sitting there for a year or more.

ants etc will feed on blowflie larva and can reduce or eliminate blowfly infestation.

That's definitely a good reason!
Ants will come in and carry off fly eggs and maggots and feed on them. They will slow down the decompostion of body (actually documented by Lee Goff in Hawaii)...

Ants reduce or decimae the fly larva, If ant activity isn't accounted for. The ants remove the evidence.
