yes, but to whom do the french surrender ?....nothing like having options

The French are part of our invasion force - a select group of French commandos are going to insert themselves into Iraq and give the Iraqi troops surrender lessons. Not that the Iraqis are not naturals in this area to begin with, but it never hurts to cover all bases...

Mid October sounds fine - earlier, it is still too hot. Also, wag the dog accusations won't work with this president, not after 9/11.

Why not? Bush is one of the most political presidents we've ever had. How many Iraqis were on those planes on 9/11? That's not to say that Hussein and his sons don't deserve unexpected candygrams from our hellfire missiles, but let's not drink the kool-aid the way the Clintonistas did.

I am wondering how much of the stock market fall is due to Arab money pulling out in anticipation of this event. Joyfull suggested that a couple of days ago, and I think that isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Did you see the faces of Cramer and the guests when Kudlow mentioned the late night Federal Reserve meeting? The Wall Street Journal writer said he wanted to leave and go track down the rumor and the other two guys agreed. LOL. He has great sources and he explains the issues very well.

With regard to Iraq, it's obvious something is afoot; just look at the switch in tone from Biden and others.

Although we know that this president actually understands defending this country and the realizes the importance of hitting Iraq as soon as possible, the RATS will call it an October Surprise. They are shameless and almost as much of an enemy as Al Qaeda.

People like Biden and Daschle are gravely concerned about an assault on Iraq. It would be a very big do, and would concentrate the minds of the American people on the buildup to the invasion, then the invasion itself.

Four divisions of mobile infantry, plus either the Old Ironsides Armored division or the First Cav, will be needed for this operation. We're talking a big mobilization of Guard and Reserve. Then you have to throw in a Marine Expeditionary Force, lots of air wings, and the Naval Reserve.

This is the kind of news that blows Harkin and Halliburton right off the page. This is the kind of thing that will put the initiative right back into the Oval Office, where it always has been since the war began.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

section9,

You have been found to be in repeated violation of the FR ban on excessively cute and cloying signature graphics.

Report to the disintegration chamber immediately.

The rumour about a Fed meeting is still making financial rounds. The Street gives it the spin that it is reported to have been about JP Morgan's derivitive involvement. They also say it probably didn't happen. Thus Citigroup is generally flat today and JPM is actually up based on upgrade.

If this story has a grain of truth to it, which it probably does, as the French would leak this in a heartbeat, then the attack could take place sooner than we think. As early as September, perhaps.

On the reasonable assumption that Condi knows that anything she tells the French in confidence will be blabbed to the world.

Which would be a good reason for feeding selected disinfo to them.

My guess is that there was a Fed meeting, but I doubt it was primarily to deal with JP Morgan. I think they know that Citigroup is not alone in 'creative loans' and 'oral agreements', and want a plan in place.

The WSJ writer on Kudlow and Cramer said that he was getting a lot of calls from lawyers and bankers saying that since the info was coming out about Citibank, that now 'the truth will be told'.

Sen. Fitzgerald told Neil Cavuto that none of the information on Citigroup was a surprise, that the committee had been aware of this for quite a while.

About JPM... how many reporters do you think can actually understand - not to mention explain! - derivitives. I'm excluding the financial people, of course. Imagine Dan Rather's explanation...grin.

You're right. Do we need to start parsing 'concerned' vs. 'gravely concerned'? LOL.

The tone has shifted from 'if' we go after to Iraq to 'the President needs to get approval from Congress'. I read that as 'he's going after Iraq, the American public wants him to, and we want to be on board'. There's a lot of 'me tooing' in D.C.
