In the early days, malaria was endemic to the Washington DC area; you didn't have to travel someplace exotic to get it.

Washington was a real swamp long before the city was built and it became merely a political swamp.

My wishes for Matthews--the ultra-left wing talking head and all-around Klintoon apologist--are for an extended and painful illness.

Good. Maybe the same mosquito will bite Hillary Rottenbottom.

Cautor.......he is not a Clinton apologist. He hates the Clintons and has gone out of his liberal way to bad-mouth both Bill and Hillary. He also hates most Republicans, and support most other Democrats. Poor guy, raised in a staunchly Republican home, he has major conflicts. He is a joke as a commentator...but I still don't wish him pain and suffering. I just want him to retire.

Huh? There is no malaria in Israel. In rural parts of Iran, Syria, and Iraq, malaria is very rare but occaisonally present. But in Israel? What's going on here?

During the Civil War, many of the DC-ites would leave that "swamp infested hole" aka Washington D.C. In fact, Abe Lincoln was known to summer at the "Joisy shore" at a place called Atlantic City!

Frankly, I have no idea why this guy needs to spend time in the hospital. I just spent a few days in bed.

Did you mean:
"Is she that blonde"?
or
"Is he that blond"?

(With an ambiguous name like Chris...)

Correct spud...I doubt if truly endemic but imported in the filthy bilge water in the holds of sailing ships and maintained anywhere there are swamps and hot weather. Today there are still sporadic cases of malaria that pop up in DC but in all probability it is from local mosquitos biting infected "new arrivals" via the airports and spreading the malaria from the original infected persons to other persons

What's the prognosis for the mosquito?

Precisely. The "tonic" in tonic water is quinine which eases the symptoms of malaria. A gin and tonic, by the way, was the first known drinkable laser. The quinine fluoresces and has a metastable transition that allows lasing to occur.

Yep, back in the 70s I used to drink 'em in a bar that had a black light. Beautiful, fragrant and delicious. In fact, the gin and tonic could be renamed the "Ann Coulter."

The "Air Conditioner" was invented in Appalachacola, Florida by a doctor who was treating malaria.

I don't know. When I think of blond, I think blond also blonde     (blnd)
adj. blond·er, blond·est
  1. Having fair hair and skin and usually light eyes: blond Scandinavians.
  2. Of a flaxen or golden color or of any light shade of auburn or pale yellowish brown: blond hair.
  3. Light-colored through bleaching: blond furniture.

n.
  1. A person with fair hair and skin and usually light eyes.
  2. A light yellowish brown to dark grayish yellow.

Interesting. Didn't know that.

Yes, I did think it was a guy. I saw him do his show a couple times before Fox came to the system.
