Anti-wealth rants? Very strange. Where do you get that? It is the NC which is the socialist organization. It is trying to extort property (using the mailed fist of government) and then turn it over to the government for a hand-some profit. The goal of the NC is to line its own pockets so it can be more efficient in its campaign to nationalize land which was formally private.

this piece, while perhaps factually accurate, is contextually way off kilter. this is not like dan rather speaking at democrat fundraisers. It is exactly like dan blather if you WERE a land owner screwed out of using your land (by people like this)

"they do so with their own money."
RO, The conservancy gets LOTS of taxpayer money in federal and local grants for the "good they do". Millions from the feds. And, OFTEN, they turn around and sell the properties bought with taxpayer's money back to the feds for a LARGE profit. They are, you understand, "partners" with godgov in their thievery. Conserve WHAT?? ONLY BIG GOVERNMENT and their chosen "business" partners. Generally, "Non-profit" "Non-Governmental Orgazitions" {NGOs}. Peace and love, George.

Osgood described the CBS philanthropic arm's gift of $15,000 to the TNC as "paltry." "When you are talking about CBS, you are talking about a piece of bird seed," Osgood stated. He added, "What I find interesting is that somebody thinks that $15,000 is going to make any difference to anybody at CBS or for that matter The Nature Conservancy."
"It seems a pretty paltry sum to me," Osgood said.
Nothing could be finer than a kickback that is minor...

IP, Check out the "Klamath" basin articles on FR. AFTER the feds shut off the farmer's water, the conservancy was "nice" enough to come in and buy the farms from "willing sellers" in the basin. It's the same old story about robberbarons supported by the STATE. There is enough to bring RICO charges, but who's gonna do it? They're {The "state" and the conservancy and other organizations} "Partners" in their dealings. The mafia doesn't compare with the evil these guys wreak. Peace and love, George.

I agree with you guys. This is one environmental group that I agree with and support financially. If anyone has any examples of damage or extremism that they are responsible for I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Read link 51. If you are looking for free-market oriented environmentalist groups to support, a good source is R.J. Smith of the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) in Washington. Smith, a former president of his state Sierra Club and dedicated free market environmentalist, has written extensively on this subject.
Smith has also publicized the efforts of some little-known enviromentalist organizations which do good things by using voluntary action and the market to preserve the enviroment. If you think the NC is in this category, however, you are woefully mistaken.

Anti-wealth rants? Very strange. Where do you get that?Go back and look at the anti-Nature Conservancy article that was linked by one of the posters above. The whole thing is framed with how much people are paid and how much money was raised and spent. It's entirely about money.

No. Our taxes also help fund TNC. They are no more "conservative" than Maxine Waters.

My friend, you mean well, but you just do not know.
Explain the Bitteroot fire of 2000. Explain why it happened. On public land.
