Has Paul Pearson taken a paternity test to prove that he is NOT the father of Anthony? I think that should be the logical FIRST step.

Without Paul Pearson FIRST taking the DNA test, this story will go nowhere. Actually I am surprised that he didn't already take the DNA test if he is so worried about Anthony's paternity.
