LOL! I loved how they tried to justify Johnny Jihad's punishment by saying that Jane Fonda had been treated better. It is as if they can't remember that as was the case with Walker, they are the traitors!

I've never heard of this guy. Is there anybody here who considered themselves a fan of his.

From the looks of his website he has long been a leftist who worries aabout "prisoner rights" and wants to prevent decent people from executing the scum who prey on us!

This is killing me!

Mama if you could see me right now
You'd be so sure you failed me somehow
Mama you never could understand
There ain't no peace for an angry young man

Angry Young Man, Steve Earle

But when Johnny Come Lately comes marching home
With a chest full of medals and a G.l. loan
They'll be waitin' at the station down in San Antone
When Johnny comes marching home

Now my granddaddy sang me this song
Told me about Londen when the Blitz was on
How he married Grandma and brought her back home
A hero throughout his land
Now I'm standing on a runway in San Diego
A couple Purple Hearts and I move a little slow
There's nobody here, maybe nobody knows
About a place called Vietnam

Johnny Come Lately, by Steve Earle

What the heck happened?

Did the drugs finally fry his brain?

Moral: never seek musical career counseling from Cat Stevens.

YUP, seen him twice.

This is worse than when Neil Young toured with Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, And Blind Melon!

I may still keep Earle's CD's to remember what he WAS.

Nothing But A Child
(Steve Earle)

Once upon a time in a far off land
Wise men saw a sign and set out aross the sand
Songs of praise to sing, they travelled day and night
Precious gifts to bring, guided by the light
They chased a brand new star, ever towards the west
Across the mountains far, but when it came to rest
They scarce believed their eyes, they'd come so many miles
And the miracle they prized was nothing but a child

Nothing but a child could wash these tears away
Or guide a weary world into the light of day
And nothing but a child could help erase these miles
So once again we all can be children for awhile

Now all around the world, in every Iittle town
Everyday is heard a precious little sound
And every mother kind and every father proud
Looks down in awe to find another chance allowed

Bummer, another of my favorites!

Well, my name is Steve Earle
What I got to say may make you hurl
now, I swear I ain't shot up in over a year
been too busy trying to save a failed career

Maybe my quest for publicity went a little over the line
but Taliban Johnny is a hero of mine
I just don't understand all of the fuss
just cuz I compared him to Jesus

Now, the left will make my album go gold
But It'll never be as good as 'Copperhead Road'

Now, Johnny ran off to Afghanistan
and Joined Al Qaida - he's my idea of a man
3000 dead don't mean jack to me
as long as I can sell more CDs
Now everyone is tearing me down
maybe I better get the heck outta town
so I ran off to Europe in the middle of the night
to escape the anger of the American Right

Maybe my left-wing views are getting a little old
I probably shoulda quit after 'Copperhead Road'

Hey, great! I get to do a Free Republic repeat of my own Jihad Johnny tune...

Sung to the tune of Pete Townsend's "We Aint Goin' Take It"...

We're Not Gonna Take It

Jihad Johnny sings:Welcome to the camp,
I guess you know why I'm here.
My name is Johnny,
And I became interned this year.
If you want to follow me,
You've got play Jihad;
Put on your turban,
Forget your razor,
And move to Jalalabad.

Hey you, New York City, so sorry,
I caused a fuss.
Hey you, oh Great Satan!
I lost your trust.
We knocked down those old Twin Towers,
And left them in the dust.
Now you no longer wanna treat me right,
Tho' my lawyer says you must.

America: sings We're not gonna take it.
We're not gonna take it.
We're not gonna take it.
We're not gonna take it.

We're not gonna take it.
Never have and never will.
We're not gonna take it.
Gonna try you,
Gonna fry you,
Let's hog tie you, better still

Jihad Johnny sings: Now you can't hear me,
My mouth is truly sealed.
I can't hear either,
My ears are filled.
I can't see nothing,
And duct tape completes the scene.
Here comes Delta Force to guide me to
Their very own latrine!

America sings: We're not gonna take it.
We're not gonna take it.
We're not gonna take it
We're not gonna take it.

We're not gonna take it.
Never did and never will.
Don't want your religion,
And Usama can go to hell.
We ain't gonna take you.
Never have and never will.
We're not gonna take you.
We disdain you,
Will detain you,
Let's restrain you, better still

Jihad Johnnuy sings: See me;
Feel me,.
Touch me,
Heal me.

Listening to "U",
I got the Jihad.
Gazing at "U",
I got the heat.
Following "U",
I wore the C-4,
Explosive sneakers on my feet.

Right behind me,
"U"'ll be in Gitmo,.
On "U"',
We'll see restraints.
From you,
"U"'ll get some leg arms.
From you,
"U"'ll get the heat...

There's a pretty funny parody floating around called, "Hey girls, this is Earl, I didn't die" ;0)

Steve Earle was once a pretty good singer-songwriter (about a thousand years ago.)

Who is this John Walker? There a Sulieman Hamid who will be going to trial soon, but the only John Walker I know of comes in Red or Black.

Referring to Sulieman as "John" would be as insulting as calling the former boxer "Cassius Clay" or the basketball player "Lew Alcindor". Let's please be politically correct and respect their decisions to immerse themselves in other cultures.

I've got no idea who this dumbass Earle is. Dumbass lyrics and dumbass "music," no doubt, like 95% of what you hear on AM or FM these days.

Dumbass, like all the black and white converts to Islam that I have met over the last 15 years.

Yes, Walker too is a dumbass.

But let me throw this out for all to chew on. Taliban Johnnie joined up when the Taliban were still nominally on our good list. He was roamin' free with the fuzzball militia in the days prior to 9-11 when companies like Enron were doling out millions to the Taliban government, when MSNBC was airing softball documentaries on the boys in Kabul. (“Yes, they make their women walk around in bags, but hey, they're providing law and order and they're putting a big dent in the drug trade!”)

And then the Towers fell. Little Johnnie is rounded up with
the rest of his robber band. They are confined to a basement where our friends spray bullets at armed men through the windows and, failing to effect an orderly surrender, dump in and light diesel fuel in an attempt to stablize the situation. Taliban Johnnie and a few others are eventually hauled out. Johnnie don't want to talk. He's got his arms tied behind his back and a bullet in him. Agent Mike Spann dies in the ensuing uprising.

Is Taliban Johnnie a traitor? Yes, and for all I care, y'all can shoot him. But what I want to know is: What are we for giving money to these thugs in the first place?

Dumbasses, I think.
