The concept of a Federal firefighting force may be good, since the work crosses state lines, but the Department of Defense is not where they belong...

Maybe we should federalize the companies that fight fires now, and take away the profit motive?

It was the prospect for work and income that drove Leonard Gregg, a contract firefighter in the Apache/Sitgreaves National Forest, to start the Rodeo fire in Northern Arizona. Mr. Leonard has been indicted for the actions he has admitted taking.

We should add to the already bloated fed? I think not.

Oregonians, if left alone, would be able to take care of our own forests. Without the federal restrictions on logging, logging roads, and preventive maintanence we'd would do just fine without a federal wild-fire force.
