Man arraigned on charges of raping three year old
07/16/2002
During his arraignment Tuesday, Griffin told a judge that he has no income and owns no property, so he was appointed a lawyer.
Prosector Earl Mobley wanted an August trial, but the court-appointed lawyer convinced the judge to wait until September, so he can learn more about this case and consult with Griffin's lawyer in Suffolk.
Griffin is charged in that city with abusing an 11-year-old girl and videotaping the act.
In Portsmouth, Griffin is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery, producing and possession of child pornography, object sexual penetration, indecent liberties with a child, abduction, rape and forcible sodomy.
Outside court, Griffin's stepbrother, who identified himself as Rick, told 13News that Griffin has been in this kind of trouble before in other states. "He's been real standoffish from the family because he's different, you know, so we don't know that much about him to be honest," he said.
"He's my brother, I love him ... but he needs help. He's a sick man."
Rick also said Griffin spent time in prison in Colorado. While 13News hasn't been able to confirm that, 13News did learn that Griffin was in prison in Kentucy from December, 1988 through March of 1992 for first degree sexual abuse.
Griffin remains in the city jail.
Investigations in Portsmouth and Suffolk are on-going.
How come they are only sick when they get caught? Sickness is a condition - EVIL is a behavior. These men are EVIL!
