It isn't quite hypocritical. Even criminal societies have some rules.
Molesting and or killing children goes beyond the pale. They will not suffer to be around such a monster and will kill him.
The bastard who was arrested today in CA for killing the Runion girl is a dead man walking from the second he gets to a large jailhouse.

I read in (I think) Caryl Chessmann's book, Cell 2445, that each category of malfeasors has its own rationale for its actions, and looks down on all other categories of malfeasors.

What is so strange about that? The average murderer serves about 7-8 years in prison. A drug dealer gets life. I dont see a murderer berating a drug dealer as strange, since our society says that a murderer has committed a much much less serious offense than a drug dealer.
