It's hard to argue that they were denied decent legal help when they profess to be experts in the court system.
These cases are DOA. And because they didn't file the notice(s) of appeal in time, that time has expired as well. They can't refile or they'll be broomed out of court faster than these cases.
So much for the millions. They ain't gettin' any.
As far as procedure goes, all they would've had to have done is get a copy of FRAP (they're on line) and copy with the schedule the Appellate court set out & hit the law library or findlaw, but of course they didn't.
No excuses for them, but of course, the excuses are going to be made, aren't they :-))
