I'm up for a Garand, or maybe "as issued" military shoot.
I own 2 blackpowders, a smooth bore 50 cal single shot pistol, with a 3" barrel, and a repo 1851 navy colt revolver in 36 cal - lots of fun to shoot. I've been thinking of getting a bp rifle for a few years now, but I cant decide on caliber/make. Any suggestions? I wouldnt mind on of the kits.
Would you mind doing it again? If we did a military match, that would include more people but I would like to see more shooters buying the Garands from the CMP http://www.odcmp.com . It might push some to get involved. I don't know about a black powder shoot. I don't know if we could get enough shooters. We can ask. I also can't advise what Blackpowder rifle to buy. I was in the Civil War stuff too long to know what else to buy. For accuracy it sure wouldn't be a rifled Musket although I've seen some remarkable scores from the Iron Brigade in Wisconsin.

I think I pretty much did shoot an 'as issued' military shoot on this one as the L1A1 I shot was unmodified and had the original combat sights. Even though I finished in the low-middle of the pack, I'm pretty doggone happy with my score with a mil rifle and NATO mil ammo.
