I like it, except that I just can't see a 7-year-old girl wandering off in the dark. I have an 11-year-old boy and he won't even stay in our backyard by himself after dark. (Maybe I just have a weird kid.)

You didn't just kill your family dog out of HATE/ANGER and have your child find it.

IF a child found this, might they run, anywhere, and not be in a state of mind to notice whether it is dark/light until they stop running?

What if Damon came home, or came inside after killing the dog, and when Danielle found out, he punished her? Or hit her? Might she run off ?
