What to do? What to do?

What's a good cop to do?

The DA says he won't arrest Westerfield until we get some good blood evidence with her DNA. We can't find any, anywhere. We all know he did it. We're going to find Danielle out in Glamis one of the days, but the election is coming up soon and the DA is going to lose if we don't arrest somebody. He's got child porno all over his computer, he must of done it. It's not really moral to let him get away is it? The moral thing is to make sure he doesn't get away. But how?

Let's see. There are three basic tests you do for blood. First you do the Hemostix, the presumptive test for blood. Really just tells you it might be blood, but it reacts with lots of other stuff so it's not proof. Then you've got your serology tests; a whole bunch of them. They prove it's blood and human or not, blood type, that sort of thing. Then there's the DNA tests, they can pick out any individual on the planet. But, we don't have any of Danielle's blood.

Idea. If we can just be sure everyone skips the serology tests (heck, they're obsolete in this day and age anyway) we don't need real blood. We have plenty of Danielle's DNA; they'd been cloning it using PCR over at the lab (good thing we have our our lab now, we used to have to send the stuff out). They started with the stain in the underware and made enough to 100's of tests. They'll never miss enough to wet a Q-tip. We still need some red coloring and some ferris-oxide to fool the Hemostix. There's rust everywhere, we'll just mix in a little of that. We'll get the red color for free.

There, a perfect quarter inch spot in the carpet with the Q-tip, now to wipe what's left on that jacket we got from the cleaners. All done, no sweat, now to call the Chief and tell him we found the blood, so he can announce it to the press. I gotta make sure to pass the word: NO serology tests are to be done.

Westy we got you by the nuts now.

I may have made the DNA cloning look too easy here. More PCR research shows that it amplifies "pieces" of DNA. I think these are the 22 seperate samples on that lady's chart. Just trying to figure out if it was done, why and how could it be done.
