Poll Shows Bush's Ratings Weathering Business Scandals (Bush approval: 72%)

The recent barrage of congressional and media criticism directed at President Bush for his handling of the widening corporate financial scandal has failed to damage his popularity, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The survey found that Bush's job approval rating stands at 72 percent, virtually unchanged from a month ago. An equally large proportion of people still view the president as honest and trustworthy, despite recent news accounts that he benefited as a business executive from some of the same practices he now publicly criticizes.

This whole "Business Scandal" scandal has been such a yawn with regard to the President.

Let's go to Iraq already.

Just give these relentless bastards time, they will bring down W's popularity a little at a time, at least until the war with Iraq begins.

Sadly, the war will be timed to achieve the best political effect for the GOP, a strategy made necessary in order to combat the enemies in the Press and the Democratic party.

Thanks for this article. It is unbelievable how the media has tried to make a case of this day in and day out. And the democrats are willing to drag a man thru mud--dirty politics at work.

In my business I talk to a lot of people and not one blames the president for the stock market mess nor do they think a story of 12 years ago which has been investigated several times is anything but politics.

Now if only the market improves and the economy keeps growing.

If only the public read FR (or the right of center 50% thereof), and learned the "truth" about Bush (compromising socialist at heart status quo type who traduces the constitution every day of the year), his ratings would fall to 30%. His base would dry up except for the neocons, plus you and Howlin and a couple of other Bushbots.

Great news!!!

The market really needs to pick back up again soon though, or I believe we will start to see some significant slippage in the next round of polls.

No, Bush will not "wag the dog". He will be accused of it but even if he were that craven, I firmly believe Rumsfeld and Rice would resign in protest.
