One need only have a Jewish maternal grandmother to immigrate to Israel with your spouse and children. this has led to a situation where there are thousands of non-Jewish immigrants.

I thought the parallels to the US -- a third world labor force vs. Jewish "Buchananites" (my term) -- was ironic.

Buchanan is an anti-Zionist. Still tbhere are Israeli paloecons. Check out Moledet and National Union.

I wonder how many Russians pretend to be Jewish to get into the US or Israel?

It is estimated that 60-70% of Russians emigrating to Israel are non-Jewish. They are not even Jewish according to "Hitler" since they claim bogus "Jewish" relatives. Nevertheless they are allowed to come in because Labor and Meretz need more seculars to oppose those Orthodox riffraff who reproduce almost as fast as the Arabs.

My point was that Buchanan wants to preserve what he sees as America's original "white Christian" character, and there are Jews who want to preserve Israel's Jewish character. That's why I call them "Jewish Buchananites." Not because they are both paleocons, but because they are both ethnic/religious nationalists.

Really? Where do you get those numbers? Two thirds of Russian immigrants claiming to be Jewish have no Jewish relatives? I'd assumed there were a few, but not so many.

In NY, it seems most Russian immigrants are Jews. I've passed many Jewish centers/synagogues with Russian lettering, but have yet to pass a Russian Orthodox church. (Not that I've been everywhere in NY, mainly just parts of Queens and Manhattan).

Thanks for the photos, here is another.

An Israeli police officer waves away members of the media from a destroyed bus, at the scene of an attack against Israelis at the entrance to the Jewish settlement of Emmanuel, in the West Bank, Tuesday July 16, 2002. Palestinians dressed as Israeli soldiers detonated a roadside bomb near the bus heading to the settlement Tuesday, and then sprayed the passengers with gunfire as they tried to flee, military sources and witnesses said. Seven people were killed and more than a dozen wounded. (AP Photo/Eitan Hess-Askenazi)

The issue you described is hardly unique to Israel. In fact Europe has faced precisely the same issues. And I am sure that threre are a number of Filipino guest workers in Israel as well.

Don't reign in the Israeli extremists. Let the Palistinians feel what it's like to be on the recieving end of a car bomb outside a Mosque...

Actually the Israeli extermists will do on better than that. They'll demolish the Dome of the Rock.
