COURT SETS 30 DAY DEADLINE FOR DOCUMENTS CONCERNING ASHCROFT MEETING WITH HOLY LAND FOUNDATION REPRESENTATIVE (Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today reported that a federal court ordered the Bush Justice Department to release documents concerning contacts by Attorney General Ashcroft with representatives of the Holy Land Foundation, a front group shut down by the Bush Administration in the wake of Judicial Watch and other complaints about its financial backing of terrorism. Despite the Holy Land Foundations being under investigation since 1996, the Attorney General had met with George Salem, a lawyer for the group, on October 16, 2001. Salem is also reportedly a major Republican donor and fundraiser. Judicial Watch had been seeking documents since December, 2001 from the Justice and Treasury Departments and was forced to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit on February 22, 2002.

Either the Bush admin doesn't understand that these are all Islamist groups, doesn't care because it values the PC image over the war, want Arab/Muslim votes and money more than it cares about national security, or all of the above.
Judicial Watch has been very annoying lately. However, the Bush administration clearly needs watching. The adults are not back in town.
U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division
Enforcement and Outreach Following the September 11 Attacks
In addition, Assistant Attorney General Ralph F. Boyd, Jr. has directed the Civil Rights Division's National Origin Working Group to help combat the post-September 11 discriminatory backlash against Arab Americans, Muslim Americans, Sikh Americans, South-Asian Americans, and those perceived to be members of these groups, by referring allegations of discrimination to the appropriate authorities, conducting educational outreach to vulnerable communities to provide information about Civil Rights Division services, and working with other Department of Justice components and governmental agencies to ensure the effective provision of services to vulnerable communities.
Since September 11, Assistant Attorney General Boyd has spoken out against bias-motivated violence and threats of violence, and he has met frequently with leaders of Arab-American, Muslim-American, Sikh-American, and South Asian-American organizations.
The Assistant Attorney General's first such meeting occurred on September 13, 2001, the same day he issued a statement that "[a]ny threats of violence or discrimination against Arab or Muslim Americans or Americans of South Asian descents are not just wrong and un-American, but also are unlawful and will be treated as such." Among the attendees at this meeting were Dr. James Zogby, President, Arab American Institute; George Salem, Chairman, Arab American Institute; and Dr. Ziad Asali, President, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.
On September 18, 2001, Assistant Attorney General Boyd along with Robert Jordan and Thomas Reynolds of the FBI Civil Rights Unit, and Jonathan Chace and George Henderson of the Justice Department's Community Relations Service (CRS), met with leaders of Arab-American, Muslim-American, Sikh-American, and South-Asian American organizations, including Dr. James Zogby, George Salem, Dr. Ziad Asali, and Amardeep Singh Bhalla, Director, Office of Legal Affairs, Sikh Coalition.
On September 25, 2001, Assistant Attorney General Boyd spoke at the "Vigil for Community Healing, Tolerance, and Unity" at the Japanese-American Memorial in Washington, D.C. The event was attended by members of Congress and by leaders of Arab-American, Muslim-American, Sikh-American, South-Asian American, Jewish, and Christian organizations.
On September 29, 2001, the Assistant Attorney General spoke at an Arab American Institute event in McLean, Virginia.
On October 5, 2001, Assistant Attorney General Boyd and Robert Jordan from the FBI Civil Rights Unit were guests on a television show hosted by Dr. James Zogby. During the show, the guests answered questions from callers in the United States and the Middle East regarding bias-motivated crimes and the terrorism investigation.

An attorney working for Akin Gump (by no means a Republican firm) visits with Ashcroft about a client and Klayman wants to know what is said. What if Ashcroft is trying to get the charity to work for the USA on the terror war?
Klayman seems to win a lot of these cases early on when it comes to discovery (which we never get to know about). But they usually get overturned.
It seems that Klayman has the knack of shopping a case and getting very sympathetic judges for the first round.
I'm no noted historian or political hack, but I pointed out what had to be done in Frontpage magazine in September 2001
Klayman read the above article in the Wash Post and wrote the letter to Ashcroft.
Yet another lie put forth by Larry Klayman, trying to make himself the center of the universe and all that is good.
I am also pondering how someone can continue to grandstand and attempt to undermine the war on terror, while I watch my grandchildren and think about all the sons and daughters of our nation in harm's way overseas.
Then I think I will think a little bit more about Mr. Klayman and his millions of dollars, and who might be donating to him.
Has he released his donor list yet? I thought not.
Klayman is a Lawyer.
Lawyers litigate.
Therefore; Klayman litigates.
Of course, Larry *has* to do this because Ashcroft isn't doing HIS job -- at least the way Larry would do it if HE had gotten the nod for attorney general.
Ol' Lar's new best friend...
There is that name again
OK .. stupid question time .. is this the ONLY Judge working in that court??
