Some of you know I have "Shingles" and am in some serious pain. Several have been praying for me - and to all of you - thank you! I am so glad what I have is something that can work itself out - though there can be complications. If you have a moment to just pray that the pain subsides and the swelling (this is on my face around my left eye and on my forehead) - subside, I will appreciate it. Yes, I have seen 2 drs today and have major meds to take. But one consequence is my eye hurts and I am not going to be on FR much at all for awhile.
God is teaching me to rest in Him and to trust in His Sovereign plan for this country and for our individual lives. This is not an easy lesson to learn.
Anyway- that's a note of explanation. I am sorry I won't be able to respond to anybody who says anything back to me because I am signing off for awhile - but will always look for the Dose to post the Psalm. God bless each of you and may God continue to bless our President and Vice President and to surround them with God's presence and protection and direction! (And He will!)
Psalm 33
The Sovereignty of the LORD in Creation and History
1 Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous!
For praise from the upright is beautiful.
2Praise the LORD with the harp;
Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
3Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
4For the word of the LORD is right,
And all His work is done in truth.
5He loves righteousness and justice;
The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
6By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;[1]
He lays up the deep in storehouses.
8Let all the earth fear the LORD;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
9For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.
10The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
11The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart to all generations.
12Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.
13The LORD looks from heaven;
He sees all the sons of men.
14From the place of His dwelling He looks
On all the inhabitants of the earth;
15He fashions their hearts individually;
He considers all their works.
16No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
17A horse is a vain hope for safety;
Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.
18Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him,
On those who hope in His mercy,
19To deliver their soul from death,
And to keep them alive in famine.
20Our soul waits for the LORD;
He is our help and our shield.
21For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
Because we have trusted in His holy name.
22Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us,
Just as we hope in You.
Since it's been a couple of weeks since I gave an update on Eric, and some of you have been asking how he's doing, I thought I'd fill you in on some of the things he's been up to.
First of all, he is still loving boot camp! He called us last night, and was so excited because they had done their final PT evaluation, and he scored 2nd in his entire Platoon, so was chosen as a Squad Leader!! He will have 15 men under him in his squad. He was also given a medal for Bayonet marksmanship last week.........I can just picture him running through the woods thrusting a bayonetted rifle at targets! He must have had a blast doing that!
On Friday they were put in a gas chamber with masks on, told to take them off, which he said was horrible (no surprise there), and then answer a question before they were allowed to leave the room. I won't give details, but he said he was coughing like crazy, and that there was something flowing out of every orifice in his head when he got outside! Then he said it was 'fun.' ............here's where I insert the basic fact of life that boys are different from girls. :o)
He's really looking forward to the next two weeks which will be spent entirely on the firing range. He'll fire live ammo for the first time and learn to use a hand grenade (extra prayers for that, please!!)
He's missing home and freedom quite a bit, and told his older sister in a letter that he would be more than happy to 'run any errand Mom and Dad asked him to' right now.......and I'd love to have him home to do just that! But in spite of his being a bit homesick, he said that he knows he 'is where God wants him to be.'
He also told us on the phone that one of the young men he's been witnessing to bought a Bible at the PX, and wants Eric to start a Bible study with him!
Praise the Lord!
I'd like to thank all of you for praying for Eric, for the young men he's sharing the Gospel with, and for us! I had a good long cry after we talked with him last night, and I miss him so badly it hurts, but it is so thrilling to know that he is so happy being where he is, and to be so very proud that he is willingly serving this fabulous country of ours!!
You are the master, and I bow at your feet! ;o)
I always like that twinkle in his eye! ......that ornery little boy looking for any chance to peek out from behind that executive, business-like, all-grown-up man!
On the other hand the stinking RATS are their usual negative back biting selves and people are smart enough to see the difference. They have no plan, they haven't even submitted a budget. There is over 50 bills passed by the House and these bills are not even sceduled for debate in the Senate. The judicial appointments have been held up, No vote in sight for them. The emergency appropriation for the Department of Defense has not been approved for 4 months now, It's not scheduled either.
All of these things will be thoroughly debated in the fall when the elections are discussed and who has been doing what for the country. Tom Daschle and his puppet master Terry McAuliffe will pay for hurting the country. MARK MY WORDS
I'm so grateful that President Bush heeded the call. May the Lord continue to keep him safe.
