Iran's judiciary chief, Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahrudi, held talks with leaders of armed Palestinian groups in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Sunday, Palestinian officials said.
"We are trying to draw up a joint stand to face up to the US-Israeli plans against the region and the Palestinian cause," the head of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, Ahmed Jibril, told AFP news agency.
He added that the talks with the Iranian official also dealt with "the resistance inside Palestine".
Hashemi-Shahrudi likewise met with Abdullah Shallah, head of Islamic Jihad, Imad el-Alami of Hamas and officials of the Democratic and Popular Fronts for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP and PFLP).
Abu Mussa, head of the Fatah-Intifada, a dissident group, which broke off from Yasser Arafat's mainstream Fatah movement, also participated.
On his first visit to Syria, which hosts these Palestinian groups, Iran's judiciary chief earlier held talks with the spiritual leader of Lebanon's Shiite Muslim fundamentalists, Sheikh Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah.
He already met on Saturday with Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, who heads Lebanon's Shiite resistance movement Hizbullah.

Syrias Vice President Mohammed Zuhair Masharqa received on Sunday, Chairman of the Iranian Judicial Authority Ayatollah Sayed Mahmoud Hashimi Shahroudi and his accompanying delegation.
In the course of the meeting, the Iranian official stressed the growing bilateral relations of friendship and fraternity between the two countries.
He also underscored Irans support to Syria's struggle, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, to liberate the Golan and the entire occupied Arab territories, according to SANA news agency.
Masharqa, on his part, hailed Irans supportive stance to the Arab right. He also stressed that Syria, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad, would continue to be committed to the national and pan-Arab principles.
Discussions during the meeting covered the standing bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern between Damascus and Tehran.
It's too bad the Israelis didn't nail them when they were all in one place.
