LONDON (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden ( news - web sites) is alive and in good health after being wounded in an attack on his base in Afghanistan ( news - web sites) in December, an Arab journalist with close ties to the Saudi-born dissident's associates said Monday.
Abdel-Bari Atwan, editor of the London based al-Quds al-Arabi magazine, said that bin Laden's followers informed him that the al Qaeda leader would not appear on video again until his group launches another attack on the United States.
"His people said he was wounded in the shoulder by shrapnel. He is in good health now," Atwan told Reuters, adding that the injury was sustained during a U.S.-led assault on his headquarters in the Tora Bora mountains in eastern Afghanistan in December.
"They also said Bin Laden would not appear in a video and just speak words. He will make another appearance only after his people attack the Americans again," he said.

Here's how MSNBC puts it: July 15 Osama bin Laden is alive and in good health after being wounded in an attack on his base in Afghanistan in December, an Arab journalist with close ties to the Saudi-born dissidents associates said on Monday.
However, the veracity of the report could not be immediately confirmed as the reporter did not see or speak with bin Laden himself. This did not prevent Reuters from running this full-blown press release, which is even more egregious than the example above.

I do not know if he is alive or dead, but I do not agree with those who say if he were alive he would have shown himself somehow, video or otherwise. He has demonstrated the ability to be quite patient and plan his activities years ahead of time.

The longer he's kept alive by the media, the easier it is for the U.S. to continue with its war against terrorism. I'd rather hear about Al Zawahiri pushing up daisies than OBL.

They also said Bin Laden would not appear in a video and just speak words. That is a line for the suckers that follow him. If he was alive, they would love to rub our (the US) noses in it by plastering his pictures everwhere.
This appears to be the first admission that he will eventually show up dead. I hope all of his followers see him there soon.
