I've taken it upon myself to start a new daily feature at the Canteen. Words of wisdom will take sage advice for living from many sources. Sometimes they will come from the Bible, but they will also come from philosophers and great thinkers, and sometimes even from children. I've thought a long time about what I can best contribute to our troops. Sometimes a simple sentence contains the answer to a problem or a situation. This is to the Andy, USMC, who wrote to Snow Bunny about being a daily reader and lurker. Those of us who contribute each and every month to FreeRepublic, want you to know that your dues have already been paid in full.

The men and women who have served our country have paid with their bodies, their blood, and too many times their lives. America, and FreeRepublic owe you patriots, not the other way around.

Yup -- I'm really a descendant of Martha Washington. The details, I don't know. But my inept ( :::: slap my hand! :::: ) mother is supposed to be sending a fanily tree that goes wayyyyyyy back, that Great Aunt Patty did before she died. (She's the one who was the WASP.) Mom used those papers to get into DAR, so I expect it will go up that far, or close anyway! I'll let you know when I know!!
