The Israeli army said Saturday it had intercepted a car bomb in the West Bank city of Qalqilya believed headed for an attack on the Jewish state.

According to Israeli reports, troops had already intercepted three car bombs and arrested 15 would-be Palestinian suicide bombers since they reoccupied nearly all the West Bank three weeks ago.

The Israeli army said it had carried out a controlled explosion of the vehicle, which carried Israeli licence plates. The car had been spotted on a road leading out of the West Bank Friday evening and a search had revealed it contained four bombs connected to gas cannisters.

Nails added to the bomb inside the vehicle, whose passengers fled after troops fired warning shots on the road near Qalqilya. This town is one of two West Bank towns on which the Israeli army had lifted curfews earlier Friday.

I would park them in front of Arafat's headquarters and let 'em blow. Call the authorities and say you are Hamas and you don't like Arafat anymore.

Infighting can be a beautiful thing when viewed from the outside!

That's an interesting thought, hitting them with their own art of terror.

These guys could've been simply the delivery boys and not a homicide bomber. Evil needs logistical support.

From the IDF website:

Car Bomb Discovered Near Kalkiliya

During a routine operation near Kalkiliya last night, 13 July, an IDF reservist unit noticed a car, which unusually for the area had a yellow (Israeli) license plate. There were several people in the vehicle, which was moving towards the exit of the city. The soldiers fired warning shots into the air. The car stopped and the passengers abandoned it, running away in the direction of Kalkiliya.

Later this morning, the area was searched by bomb disposal units of the Border Police. Discovered in the vehicle were 4 large explosive devices, 3 gas balloons which contained inflammable substances, and 3 other gas balloons that contained a large quantity of nails alongside small and sharp pieces of metal.

The car was blown-up by a bomb shell under the supervision of the IDF.

Brigade Commander, Colonel David spoke about exposing car bombers: "The soldiers prevented a very serious terror attack. There had been no specific warnings, although during the past two weeks there have been general warnings regarding terrorists or car bombs coming from the area of Kalkiliya. During this same period, 22 Palestinians have been arrested, some of them terrorists, who intended to carry out suicide terror attacks".
