JW VICTORY: COURT RULES AGAINST CHENEY, ENERGY TASK FORCE
Judicial Watch Press release ^ | July 12, 2002 | Judicial Watch

Posted on 07/12/2002 6:40:56 PM PDT by freddy

Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today announced that a federal court has ruled in its favor against Vice President Cheney and his Energy Task Force. The 83 page opinion was issued late yesterday by Judge Emmet G. Sullivan and lambasted the arguments put forward by the Bush Justice Department seeking to prevent any inquiry into the operations of the Energy Task Force. After the Vice President rejected Judicial Watch’s request that his Task Force open its meetings to the public, Judicial Watch was forced to file suit in July, 2001. A few months later, the Sierra Club also filed suit against the Task Force.

The Court is set to allow discovery into, among other things, the Vice President’s role in the Task Force, how the Task Force operated, and the identities of Task Force participants. Judicial Watch will seek discovery from the Vice President himself in this case.

The Court firmly rejected as “mischief” Bush Administration arguments that inquiry into the operations of Task Force would necessarily impinge on the President’s constitutional powers. The Court said the Bush Administration’s “stunning” arguments “fly in the face of precedent” and are a “problematic and unprecedented assertion...of Executive Power.” The Court voiced “concern” over the Bush Administration’s misstating constitutional law and guiding precedent.

“Judge Sullivan’s decision is historic. We are pleased that the Court turned back the Bush Administration’s lawless attempt to prevent the American people from gaining access to information about the operations of its government. Let discovery begin,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

Just want to see where the thread goes...

First the complaints about JW from the usual suspects:

-Didn't Larry sue his own mother?

-JW never wins anything

-Fund raiser time

Then the return volley from the other regulars.

When the thread gets to about 2000 posts, JW issues another press release and it starts all over again.

What do you like the most about being a Senator?

When I was a social worker, I wanted to help people, but it was difficult to do because I didn't have all of the resources I wanted. Now I am a social worker with power. The power of my position allows me to really help people in need.

When do you think a woman will be President?

In 2020, the 100th anniversary of 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

Of course, any response by a court to any of Larry Klayman's laswuits is "historic." I'm sure that Larry and his zombies will see this "decision" as yet another of Larry Klayman's great victories. Of course they would, since Larry has never won a case.
What happened to the word "conservative" that always used to be in the first line of every one of Larry's press releases? Gee, I guess Larry very conveniently doesn't want to be identified with conservatives any more?

A liberal judge agrees with JW about something which is already available.

"Let discovery begin,” stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman."

And that's what's important in all of these matters. The Fedgov is trying to hide so much now that the Press Pool reporters can't even get info from the President. That's a Dumb move by Bush.

We're fortunate to have a group that's as tenacious as JW and Klayman. It served us well during the Clinton Crime Wave and JW was a FR hero. Now that they're pursuing the same tactics with this Administration, they're the Bad Guys?
