A Walk to Remember- a Movie to Remember
Me

For those of you who are not into Hollywood movie viewing business, I can understand why. Some movies these days just do nothing but glorify a lot of things we can live without. However, the other day I had the privilege of watching the movie "A Walk to Remember." It is based upon the novel by Nicholas Sparks who also wrote a book that was made into a movie called "Message in a Bottle" with Kevin Costner. The novel "A Walk to Remember" was set in the 1950s, but the movie version was set in today's setting.

It takes place in North Carolina. It's about a high school boy who gets in trouble after a daring of another student goes wrong and he ends up having to do some after school work, such as doing janitorial duties, tutor underprivleged inner-city kids, and has to participate in the spring play. The latter two is where he becomes more acquainted with the girl who happens to the daughter of a church minister. She is someone who doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, as long as she does what she feels is right and moral. While he has trouble identifying with her at first because they are very opposite of each other, he gradually grows attracted to her and ends up falling in love with her. She teaches him values that he would have never learned from his friends. Her minister father objects to her association with him at first, but grows fond of him eventually. Their love is one that is true and genuine and will never die.

For those of you who have not seen the movie "A Walk to Remember," I will not tell what the outcome of the movie is. You have to find out for yourself. The movie stars Shane West as Landon Carter, pop singing sensation Mandy Moore as Jamie Sullivan, Daryl Hannah as Landon's mom, and Peter Coyote as Jamie's father. You remember Daryl Hannah as the mermaid from "Splash" and as Jack Lemmon's daughter in the "Grumpy Old Men" movies, plus Peter Coyote as the scientist from "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial." All of the four actors here are solid in their parts. This is not a Christian movie, but it is a movie with Christian themes in it. If you think Hollywood is out of touch with modern day America, you are right. But this movie will make you feel uplifting in a way you never thought of before. If you get a chance, rent this movie. It will be worth the price.

Thanks for the recommendation. Allow me to piggyback on your thread regarding 'The Royal Tennenbaums'. Alec Baldwin does the voiceover in the movie, for all you Alec fans out there!

Not only do you have to listen to Alec throughout the movie, it's boring. The only good thing is you never have to actually SEE Alec. Just my two cents. Carry on.
