(Do you mean, don't quote what Jesus said and quote from the Old Testament instead of the New Testament?) But God gave us the entire Bible as His Word - all of it - not just the "New Testament". The Old Testament is completed by the New Testament and the New Testament is built upon the Truths of God revealed in the Old Testament. They are in-divisible.

Your question, do I mean to not quote the scripture of Jesus in the NT ?. No, I did not mean that at all, and I apologize if that was the impression I had given. What I meant is that I rarely see any scripture quoted from the NT by Christians or any quotes of the teachings of Jesus in the NT. I read mostly quotations from the OT. I couldn't agree with you more that the OT and the NT are undividable. Jesus too beleived in the OT and quoted from some of the prophets of old in the OT. But !! Where is scripture here of what Jesus had to say, and many changes that came with the appearance of Him. Example " eye for an eye" is of the OT but according to Jesus this does not apply any longer. That is just one minor example I am giving.

The bottom line is that I do not hear Christians quoting much of what Jesus taught in the NT. Not much at all.

Do you mean general quotations here (as in the Psalm I post on the Daily Dose) or do you mean, quotations of Jesus' words in our culture of today as a whole?

Well - I don't expect to hear His Words discussed publicly today - not until we "reclaim America" with the fortitude and self sacrifice of our forefathers who held a vision for our nation and the world - for the Glory of God and the benefit of all people.

We are, sadly, living in a "Post-Christian" era, by and large. However, as we discovered on 9-11 - even when our nation is moving further and further away from the scripture and from Jesus' Words in scripture and from the calling that God has on the Christians of this country to be the salt and the light here as around the world ----- there remains underneath all our modern day cynicism and narcissm and darkness - we as all people have a basic desire to know God, to be in touch with Him, and to magnify His presence with us even in the depths of our despair and grief.

I hear Jesus' words in my heart and mind every day:

"Come unto me, all ye who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest! For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly of heart."

Do you think these words "connect" in our day of propulsive violence both on and off the "big screens" that are everpresent with us????

Even if they don't connect easily - having them "connect" in the lives of those who belong to Him - a quiet strength, a humble spirit, and a "yoking" with the One who also command - "Take up your cross and follow me" ----- will bring redemption and renewal to this nation and to the world. Ever onward in Jesus mighty name but himble, meek, and lowly Spirit - available to all no matter in what condition they find themselves!
