Thanks for the additional facts. Did Martin Luther translate the Bible into German or not? Do you think this was an important influence on the people of Germany or not?

The Wulfila Bible was first translated into ruinic script: long before Luther could sing.

Check out this surviving copy, the Codex Argenteus, and click on the gif

Luthers translation into the vernacular was tantamount to what Dante did when he composed his poetry. No one will dispute whether or not they effectively fixed the shape of their languages.
