I am surprised she testified about the drug use -- she should have refused to testify on the grounds it would incriminate her. So why did she? Strange.

I don't think you have the option of selectively refusing to answer questions on the stand. You either have to invoke the Fifth universally on every single question they ask you, or not invoke it at all. The moment you answer question one, you've waived your right.

Because THAT GROUP can't *think* past a minute. Besides, they have to get DW convicted at ANY cost.

Not quite true. You can answer questions prior to asseting your 5th Amendment rights, but once you assert it, you had best do the same for every question that follows.

Not quite. Once you've answered a question, you should reply to any question that expands on the basic question.

This would not waive your 5th amendment rights to questions covering new ground.

'course you can refuse and eat baloney sandwiches for contempt if the judge thinks otherwise.
