12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

I've been saying that very same thing ever since this thing came out, but (sob) nobody ever listens to me (whine)
To: deport
LOL, you guys keep this up and the attribution is going to be longer than the article.
To: Mo1
except for lists of contributions, gifts or grants received,
I don't have a problem with that part as long as he gets on with the Audit as requested by the IRS. If he's got nothing to hide then he'll come out clean, otherwise I suspect the IRS will find if he's been 'fudging'.
To: McGavin999; All
LOL!
The check/butt part?
Hey EVERYBODY, listen to McGavin999 would you.
Feeling a little neglected over here :)
To: deport
Well Larry says he has nothing to hide
Judicial Watch has no objection to IRS audits at the proper time and place, under correct, non-political circumstances. We have nothing to hide.
BTW when did the IRS send a notice
Oh yes ... here it is
Judicial Watch first received notice of an attempted IRS audit on October 9, 1998

Everybody I know gets to wait four years when they are audited, how about you and yours?
To: Howlin
He'll just scream it's political. Frankly, I'd like to see all the not for profits audited.
To: terilyn
terilyn, you were RIGHT! ;-)

I found your post!

ROTFLMCO! Soooooo, the "crime" committed by Halberton is that it changed it's accounting to coincide with 99.999999% of other companies in the same business. LOL LOL LOL (Wiping tears of laughter from my eyes) Oh, LOL, I can't WAIT for this to go to court. Klayman is going to look like a total @ss.
Too bad none of the people involved here knows anything about Work in Progress accounting.

After the September 11 charity non-payment to victims fiasco, I totally agree with you.

mirrors, vampires :: facts, certain posters
(I love putting analogy questions on tests.)
To: Howlin
Yeah, but that was on just one thread. Of course Texasforever explained it MUCH better than I did.
To: McGavin999
Oh, you are so right; in fact, right on these threads, the Klaymanites are already laying the groundwork for it: FreedomInLitigation said that "unless a judge throws it out," she believes he has "a good chance 'this time'"....going play the political card, just like he's doing with the audit.
To: Mo1
Did he say when that was? When hell freezes over?
To: McGavin999
But it was over a week ago; way ahead of your time; and right on the ball -- it must have been when this first came out!
To: terilyn
1. This action arises from a fraud perpetrated by directors, officers, and accountants of Halliburton Company, d/b/a Halliburton Energy Services (Halliburton) against shareholders of and potential investors in Halliburton securities and the integrity of the securities market. I will readily admit that I am not a lawyer but how can "potential investors" be a plaintiff in a class action suit? Does that mean that I could have potentially bought a ford pinto and be awarded damages because I could have potentially been blown up? Now there is a novel idea.

Welcome to the bizarro world of Judicial Watch where anyone can sue anyone for anything.
