12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."
Name somebody who has been impeached over something he did before he was in office.
And, btw, if Clinton had gone to trial and been found guilty in the Paula Jones case, he would NOT have been impeached for that.
I understand you are saying theorectically they could impeach the proverbial ham sandwich if they wanted to, but most of the time they have decided that they cannot use crimes that happened while not in office.
I wish "she'd" spank them more often myself, but they ARE "her" kids.
He's president of the whole country.
"Oooooh, baby."
Didn't you mean Ewwwwwwwww, baby?
Of course I cannot point to a thread where you say explicitly that you don't support the President.
I am quite sure, however, that there are plenty of threads where you chime in with the "Bush caved" and "Bush is a liberal" opiners. In fact, I do believe you have even posted pictures on those threads, PCB.
Therefore, if you are a Bush supporter, you are a poor representative of those people, and in fact if you maintain that you ARE a Bush-supporter, you are going to be asked by people like me just what it was exactly that you did support.
Have you any further information about Hallibuton's legal movements today? I hope the hammer is falling on LK.
To: Howlin; AllThis Washington Times article suggests that Larry's Lawsuit is baseless.I was surfing around the Washington Times today and one article an interesting little tidbit:
The suit says Halliburton and Andersen violated securities laws when they did not disclose and justify the accounting change in a letter to investors. Halliburton's financial statements starting in 1998 do note, however, that it was booking uncollected revenue from cost overruns.

Meantime, at approximately the same time the lawsuit is filed, Carville and company put out an ad accusing Cheney & Halliburton of "Enron-style accounting practices"....sound familiar?
Did I miss something, or did everyone just decide to "investigate" or "discover" these things all at once?
Once again, while you have probably never posted a line in which you say you don't support the President, you have consistantly and for some time posted threads in which you denigrate his position, accuse him of "caving," and generally leave the impression that you would prefer someone else be Presidient.
Your clever little questions are not making points with me. Do you support the President or not?
That does not mean that someone may not be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors committed before their current public office.
Impeachment is a serious punishment and only used in absolutely necessary situations.
Even One Particular seems to concur.
By the way, DO you support President Bush? I would like a clarification, with no parsing. Thank you.
