12:57PM Halliburton responds to Judicial Watch lawsuit (HAL) by Michael Baron Halliburton (HAL) is off 30 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $13.82, in midday action. The company is out with a press release responding to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group. The suit alleges fraudulent accounting practices at Halliburton took place during the period when current vice president Dick Cheney served as its chairman and CEO. Halliburton called the claims in the suit, "untrue, unsupported, and unfounded." The company continued: "We are working diligently with the SEC to resolve its questions regarding the company's accounting procedures. Halliburton has always followed and will continue to follow guidelines established by the SEC and GAAP, General Accepted Accounting Principles."

Are you kidding? You don't know what an AFhole is? How long have you been a member here? That is a closely guarded secret. Even Jim does not know.

Just leave the monitor on and turn it over. That way while you are hanging upside down, you'll be able to read her reply! I think that's the best slam I've ever read. Hilarious!

The House Managers and Ken Starr were also looking into Mena and Whitewater; they knew if they could find enough evidence on these two occurances, they would have a solid case for Impeachment. But they couldn't find enough evidence and went with just Lewinsky. You are incorrect -- the House Managers and Ken Starr never looked into Mena.

I think Cheney needs to be held accountable personally for ANY mis-accounting deeds he did or allowed to happen. After all, if I was working in a big blue stock company and was giving stock inside trading to investors and telling them to pull out and sell before the shit hits the fan, I'd be in jail.

A civil lawsuit can be based on wrongdoing which is also a crime, such as fraud. Ther standard of proof and even the elements of the wrongful act differ, however.
Someone can steal from you and you can sue to recover your property. OJ murdered two people, and got off on the criminal side, but the families sued him in civil court and won. It's called "wrongful death" in civil court, not murder.

If she can say that Dick Cheney is a defacto president and should be impeached, I can say what I damn well please about her. Up to and including personal insults? That certainly seems to be some folks' M.O. around here.

Tell you what, let me ask my Con. law professor. Will you settle for his answer?Sure--if you give us his name, address, phone number and e-mail address so we can verify.
To: Torie; FreedominJesusChrist; one_particular_harbour
No, I don't think FiJC would like OPH's answer on whether Cheney can be impeached for alleged crimes that occurred before he was VP, not one iota. It's not what he's going to say but how he's going to say it, if you get my drift.
In fact, I'm pre-chuckling in anticipation of his response.

This is a classic, a coffee-shoot-out-your nose classic:
Just leave the monitor on and turn it over. That way while you are hanging upside down, you'll be able to read her reply!
To: Catspaw
You mean you're supposed to drink coffee while hanging upside down?
Off to try that!

Better take screen shots. This one will end up in the dumpster before long. LOL.
