"Mr. Brock has the right of free speech just like every other American"

Mr. Brock believes in free speech, just not for everyone.

There isn't a single place in the Constitution where English is mandated for anyone, or any language for that matter. People who wish to live here without ever learning English, have that right protected under the First Amendment, albeit marginalized by their inability to communicate in a common langauge, as long as they obey the laws of the land, pay their taxes, and are willing to defend the nation when needed.

Like it or not, freedom of speech extends itself unto language.

And no, those who refuse to learn English have no right to expect others to learn any language other than the common language of the nation, they must accept the fact that will live outside the mainstream of society...and that's their right as well, just like if a native-born American decides never to utter another word in any language tomorrow, or go live in the woods "away from society".

Freedom is a scary thing, you should try to understand it.

And BTW, "sir"...not everyone with a Hispanic surname is an illegal.

I don't care if Hispanics want to speak Spanish, they can knock themselves out. If anyone, from anywhere, is in MY country illegally, I want them outta here.

Like all legal documents it is written in English. America was founded by the English. That is our political history and culture. That is what we are to conserve as conservatives.

Please show me where the right to speak a language other than English is enshrined.

Congress has the right to set a national language.

Setting a national language for official purposes is supported by Article 1, Section8:
"To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;"

And BTW, "sir"...not everyone with a Hispanic surname is an illegal.

I should hope not. Then again there are far too many illegals with all names.

Bigtime LULAC member, are you? I agree with Chad. Grow a pair and quit your whining. Chad's talking about invaders from a socialist hellhole who don't care about our laws, having flouted them by coming here without permission. They aren't very big on paying taxes or defending the ocuntry either, in case you haven't noticed.

You're right, not everyone with a Spanish surname is an illegal but many are and you're apparently trying to make it appear that everyone with a Spanish surname whines like a liberal. It's clear that you certainly have the whine down pat.

I can't imagine moving to Mexico or Spain ---or even traveling to those countries without having a basic understanding of the Spanish language, I certainly wouldn't feel very patriotic if I chose to live there and left myself unable to communicate with my fellow citizens. I can see not being able to communicate well for a year or two if you're slow in language-learning ability but after that it just shows a laziness.
