I know of people over 30 who will go to a complete stranger and pay for match-making. Maybe there's something to be said for those societies where the parents carefully select among their friends and then raise the children with the idea that they have a mate. In the case of this guy, he always knew his bride, he wasn't forced to marry her but all his life he knew her and had that expectation. They seemed very compatible and happy. It certainly can't be worse than the way many here will go to a bar and look for possible mates among complete strangers but sometimes that does work.
