I have my suspicions too with this writers projections.
It would not suprise me in the least to find waves of these [sent ahead with guidelines]...Muslim appologists in the U.S..
Those speaking here ..will be groomed to speak to an American audience...then there is the crowd who will do the Euro thingy.

I feel Daniel Pipes just nailed it a few months back with...

The inquisition, as horrible as it was and as much as it contributed hundreds of thousands of Jews to my culture, can in no way be used as an excuse for the cowardly acts of these terrorists, who do not have the means nor the honor to open a front in terms of real war, but assasinate and injure unsuspecting civillians.

As a former soldier who had the honor of serving with some of your countrymen, I must apologize for some of the posters here.

There is as much difference between Arabs (whom we normally think of when we think of Moslems) and Turks as there are between Americans and the French.

Turkey, with its strict seperation between church and state is a beacon for the Islamic world to be drawn to.

The Turks have the answer if only the rest of the Islamic world will follow.

Very true. But it's still somewhat stunning to see a Christian rant about Muslim atrocities in Spain, claiming that's meaningful today. Pots and kettles come to mind.

No one can logically claim they represent all Christians. To claim that Al-Qaeda represents all Moslems is just as foolish.

I didn't claim that McViegh represents all Christians, nor did I claim that al-Qaeda represents all Muslims. I simply correct the author's false and undeniable implication that, because of his "background," McViegh was a Christian.

You are misreading both what I wrote and what the author wrote. We are both saying that Islam as a whole did not condemn 9-11; not that no Islamic groups condemned it. The occassional imam speaking at a mosque here or there does not constitute a wholesale condemnation of 9-11 by the Islamic world.

I have nothing but respect for the Turkish soldiers I worked with and the civilians with whom I lived for 2 years.

Don't paint everyone with the same brush because we have many Turkish friends and a government that is allied with the US in the war on terror.

I trained many of your countrymen during the 1970's for Electronic Theory and applications.

They were always eager to learn and were motivated soldiers.

But dont get me started on the Saudis and the Jordanians, whew !

Fragrant is the best word I would use.

It is sad that I have read so many responces here that equate Turkey with the Arab countries.

The difference is stark and obvious to even the most casual observer.

I hope to see you around a_Turk, we have commented on many of the same posts and I have always been impressed by your logical responces and thoughtful remarks on the world situation, I hope I read many more in the future.
