I would sure like to know what happened to this guy, but it seems like the U.S. Customs will not reveal any information whatsoever. I guess "holding the information" would keep me safer.

So the guy obviously didn't have visa. So now he may get a free trip back to Lebanon courtesy of the U.S gov.
A scenario: The guy didn't have the cash to fly home and got the bright idea of having the U.S. do it for free, with a lay-over in good ole U S of A... :)

A Nerve Racking Flight
In the interests of English: A Nerve-wracking Flight.

I bet the first thing you thought when he asked if you all were "over America" was "Is this when he sets off the bomb?". It would be interesting to see what's at that address he used on the form. Do you remember it?

My bet is that he had ingested several containers of some unauthorized substance in return for a fee paid by a Mexican government official and felt that his internal nature was begining to take its course.

Then he decided to go to the back of the plane and stood directly in front of the emergency exit door.
At that point I would have got up and said to my fellow passengers, "OK, Let's Roll"
Then we would have subdued Omar. I don't believe that I could have sat there and sweated it out.

What an odd story. Agent Adbul Christensen who sat next to you has a completely different version of events. ;) Stay safe!

He used an Austin address, of which he said was his sisters. Now why would anyone fly from Lebanon spend 10 days in Cancun alone, and THEN decide to go visit a sister in Austin? The whole story stinks.

"I have taken 3 trips to Cancun/Cozumel in the last 4 months"
As a tourist? Man, your vacations are a lot more frequent than mine:)

You are wasting your time checking with the INS, I doubt he even got questioned.
If you want to find him you might check the top of the University of Texas Tower. He is probably up there launching helium filled balloons with baggies of Anthrax attached.
To: unixfox
This sounds very suspect, but there is an off chance he was just terrified of flying.

I think there are many things we'll never read or know about that go on all the time. Sometimes they have border patrol stationed at the border check stations ---about 100 miles from the original border that are supposed to make the rest of the US safe from what comes into the open border zone. I was driving through one of those recently and there was a car of 5 Middle Eastern males they had pulled over and were obviously questioning, they were all out of their car which looked like a rental. Of course I'll never know what happened about that.

I'm a nervous flier any way. I would have beat his cheese for just acting squirrely. Provided I hadn't blissed out on Halcion and Jameson's.

He would try to make small talk with us and told us that he owned a sporting outfit that sold ski equipment (he did have a small carry on bag that had Rossignol printed on it).Yeah... that's it! I'm the exclusive supplier of ski equipment to the Saudi Olympic Ski Team! Yeah! That's it!

But what was really weird was that during the flight he let us know at least 3 times that he was a Christian and not like the "others".Just thank God he was a Christian and not like the others and next time drive to San Antonio for the weekend. Glad it turned out ok.

I called the U.S. Customs Service to see if I could get any information about what may have happened to the person they detained from Lebonon. You called the wrong agency. The US Customs service did not detain this guy and would have no information on him.

You are wasting your time checking with the INS, I doubt he even got questioned. In the past 8 months, the Border Patrol has apprehended 636,471 illegal aliens crossing the border. The INS Inspectors have intercepted 447,881 inadmissible aliens at the US ports of entry. The INS Criminal Investigators have successfully completed 32,417 cases and the Deportation Officers have removed 81,762 aliens from the United States.
Your right, we dont stop or question anyone.
