What about the other notes they found warning of impending attacks? do we get a law enforcement advisory that gets leaked and becomes a de facto national alert (even though we only have had one of those since Tom Ridge got his job)... ?

Are you serious? If so, that means he had ties to terrorist and the FBI will be on the hot seat again and deservingly so

This according to KABC 7 in Los Angeles.

Who's running the FBI? Who's his boss? And his boss?

What other time bombs are still in the country, for fear of a smudge on our compassion?

I suspect the reason it took so long for the feds to release this info. is that they know Americans will not stand for terrorist blowing innocents away. We will not stand by and endure what Israel has been dealing with because our government would rather not offend the terrorist among us. We will demand that our government take swift action and spare us the pc crap or Americans will defend their country themselves

Do you realize that your post makes absolutely NO sense. What difference does it make whether its determined that this was a terrorist attack on July 4th or 5th? It would take the Pentagon at least a day to pick a target to attack. Sounds like you've got a screw loose. Take a valium and shut the f up.

Earlier, CNN identified the gunman as a 52-year-old male. CNN reported that despite the fact that the gunman did not have forms of identification on him, three individual law enforcement officers stated that based on his physical appearance, it appeared that the gunman was an Arab male.

Yessir, no question about it, that corpse is 52-years-old.

Now, step right up, only a dollar and I'll guess your age and weight! You might even win a Teddy bear! Step right up! Have your dollar ready!

Hmmm. Egyptian. An Arab Muslim.

An Arabic Muslim born in the Islamic World over the sea. Who'd guess that? Well, this certainly is an unusual twist in the ongoing tale of cold blooded murder of innocent Jewish and American citizens.

This explains why the press is refusing to give out biographical details on this guy. If he was an American white guy, we would've known everything including his hat size an hour after the shooting.

Dave S,
I'm not saying that he was part of a larger terrorist plot, just that the FBI would not tell us if the man was arab or not.(when you have an arab man open fire on an israeli ticket booth people will assume it was terrorism)..you don't think the FBI does stuff like this..do you rememebr the kid that flew that plane into the skyscraper in Tampa last winter..well the FBI said at the time he left a suicide note but refused to give the details..well it turns out the note said that he was an OBL supporter and that OBL had a bomb left over from the 1973 Israeli-arab war and was going to set it off at the superbowl(actully that was the movie plot for sum of all fears)..anyway the Fbi finally released the content of that note weeks later....THE DAY AFTER THE SUPERBOWL!

Shin Bet believes shooting is terrorist By Amir Oren

As American TV stations last night debated whether the shooting at Los Angeles International Airport was criminal or terrorist, the Shin Bet security service decided to be circumspect and label it a hostile terrorist act.

There had been no intelligence warning of an attack by any organization on an Israeli target in the U.S., but the way in which the attack took place, its location and timing, seemed to point to terrorism. Unless proved otherwise, that is how the Shin Bet decided to regard it.

In initial reports, security personnel said the attacker had aimed at those people who appeared to be obviously Israeli. His behavior before the shooting, when he was close to the El Al counter, aroused some suspicion but not sufficient to warrant approaching him. But as soon as shots were heard, the security guards assumed this was the person involved and therefore they aimed at where he was last seen.

The El Al security officer at the station and one of the plane's security guards were involved in the ensuing gun-battle. At press time, no details had been released about the security guard. Many of these guards are Israelis who are studying abroad or people who are staying in the U.S. for other reasons.

According to one report, as soon as the shots were fired, the security guards who were on their way to the plane turned right back and ran to the scene in order to help overpower the assailant. Shin Bet officers last night praised the swift action taken by the El Al station officer and the guards.

El Al stations throughout the U.S. were put on special alert over the past week, following Sin Bet intelligence assessments, particularly in view of the general alert in the U.S. for the Fourth of July independence holiday when al-Qaida threatened to launch attacks. Nevertheless there was no specific warning about an attack on any Israeli target in America.

The successful conclusion of the incident - the constant contact between El Al and the Israeli guards, and the killing of the gunman - is likely to give a boost to the reputation of the companies and experts who deal with air security and who export their know-how from Israel, particularly since September 11.

El Al's persistence in maintaining armed guards at its stations and on its planes, even after several years when there have been no attacks, has proved justified (even though the high cost is a matter of dispute between various government and financial circles).

The result would have been different if a different El Al target had been chosen where the security is less strict, or if the passengers had been outside the area of the El Al departure lounge.

The shared destiny of the two countries waging a war against terrorism could not have had a more apt reminder than last night's attack - even if it transpires that the motivation was crime rather than terror.
