I was just thinking I wish we had gone! We've been several times, and you just cannot beat it! I wonder what the crowds were like.

Quite crowded. We were just off the ellipse, SE of the White House. It was an excellent view. We stayed at the Capitol Hilton, a couple of blocks up 16th from the White House. It was great to be able to walk and not have to fight the Metro crowds or get a bus.
