I heard him deliver his comments yesterday, and thought he was a little over the top. I was very disappointed in him.

I think Dobson is wrong and I think Bush is wrong. Not about this appointee - I don't know anything about her.

The "Centers for Disease Control and Prevention" needs to be dismantled and started over from scratch.

The CDC is as bad as WHO.

"Dr. Gerberding has been in positions of leadership in the CDC for years, but there is nothing in the record to indicate her opposition to 'safe-sex' ideology. She has no apparent concern about the ineffectiveness of condom usage, nor any stated disagreement with the positions of the homosexual activist movement, or with the provision of free needles to drug users. To the contrary, her writings clearly show that she believes the 'safe sex' lie that has entrapped millions of our teenagers -- many of whom are now fighting incurable sexually transmitted diseases." - Dr. Dobson

I haven't read this woman's writings so don't know where she stands on condom use. I assume, based on the bio of her which CDC is running, she knows and understands that condom usage does not protect against all STD's. Quite frankly, raking her over the coals because of something she hasn't said, which Dobson appears to be doing in the above quote, seems silly to me.

Running the CDC involves multiple talents - a strong background in infectious disease, an understanding of how to run a federal bureacracy, and outstanding management skills. I don't see anything in her bio that screams she's incompetent in either of these areas.

Get a grip, people. We're facing the possibility of all kinds of infectious disease onslaughts, some from evily innovative new exposure methods and possibly genetically altered organisms. Let us hope that someone's stand on homosexuality and needle distribution is not the key determinant on whether he/she is selected as the head of the CDC. And before you flame me, for what it's worth, I'm a conservative Christian.

I don't know much about her stand on "safe sex", but I do know one thing,... I only saw her for a few minutes on the TV and was highly unimpressed. She rambled on and on about "public health issues" which she felt were vitally important, such as too much fat in our diets.

America is in a war against terrorism, and many of their denizens apparently have biological warfare on their agendas of "things to do as soon as possible" - not to mention the anthrax gig that was already done, the investigation of which seems to have been magnificently bumbled. It seems to me the CDC should have been out in front on that one and not worrying about other "significant health issues". The old CDC (prior to the Clintonistas) surely would have been. Now it seems full of paper-shufflers, time-servers, and Oprah wannabees. This woman seems to be one of them.

This country needs somebody in charge of the CDC who has their head on straight and can focus in on life-and-death issues for today, not the PC ones eveybody likes to talk about endlessly in the breathless press, such as "safe sex". IMHO (watching her singularly inept talk) she is from another era named The Clinton Era!

Bush can surely do better. I agree with Dobson.

Thumbs down!
