Well hello, you must be Saffi's new defense attorney...eh?

No, I just have actual brain cells, connected to each other, that can perform a variety of processes known as "reading carefully" and "thinking logically." Check into it sometime.

I guessing you're one of those types that thinks anyone not in favor of exterminating the entire Muslim population of the world is a flaming pacifist?

Saddam is not a dumbo; in fact he is a very intelligent sociopath.

People ask me why I use the terms "Organized," "Disorganized" and "Mixed" for describing criminals. The practice dates to when I first began research into the mind of the killer. Then, I noticed that the behavioralists were using psychological jargon -- "psychopaths," "antisocial," "sociopath" -- to describe basically the same person. These terms were very confusing to me as well as to others in law enforcement.

At times, I couldn't help but shake my head at some of the descriptions I heard. For example, one psychologist called Charles Manson a "psychopath." Another psychologist described him as a "paranoid schizophrenic," which is a psychotic disorder.

I never felt qualified to speak from the standpoint of a lot of doctors' degrees and that kind of education. I'm in law enforcement. With crime profiling, I never felt we were qualified to use psychological terms -- we have no business throwing diagnoses around.

Function terms

Instead of such ambiguous phrases, I decided to come up with functional terms that described the crime's appearance: Organized, Disorganized or Mixed. That appearance reflects directly on the offender.

I would say that UBL is organized. Very organized.

This is not surprising, just about anyone can enter this country. Sadam Hussein himself could put on a NY Yankees cap and enter with little or no problem.

The step son entering does not surprise me, the authorities apprehending him, does.

Abso-freaking-lutely! We live in a nation run by incompetent fools.

Airline crews under surveillance?

Profiling! Profiling! Profiling! In a time of war, do you think the PC crowd will let us profile if the other side is doing it too?

We MIGHT lighten up a bit, you know?

I am all for that. Are you sure you meant the reply for me? If so, my apologies.

Very interesting. Contrary to my first reaction on hearing
this story, I suspect this guy doesn't like Saddam much.

Your most interesting post seems more focused on the modus of the crime. My comment was more focused on the mind. Without looking it up, I use the term "sociopath" to mean someone that without the slightest feeling of guilt will commit any evil that is perceived as furthering the subject's ends. Some sociopaths have more organizational skill, or plan more in advance then others. That is all very interesting, and may affect the end result. Saddam may be characterized as an organized sociopath, which of course makes him all the more effective, and more dangerous.

You have got to be kidding..."Everything possible is being done to protect American citizens"...just keep repeating Bush's words in front of a mirror until you hypnotize yourself into believing it.

If this really is Saddams step son, this is a bigger scandal than Atta getting the ok from the INS to attend flight school a month after 9-11.

Life ain't fair.

I believe it was the INS at Miami that let The Talented Mr. Atta and some associates
just waltz back into the country despite numerous immigration violations.

Don't tell me that the INS actually is starting to do their job?
I think I'm gonna' faint...

Wow bub, excellent job in escalating the rhetoric! You have twice jumped to the conclusion that there is NO connection of Mr. Safi to bin Laden. While I don't hold a whole lot out on the American press for accurate coverage, let me just say that your "defense" of the matter has made me a bit skeptical.

My point was that the headshrinkers have handed us a lexicon on criminal behavior that has been hijacked by the legal profession and trickled down to popular culture by the media.

By trying to apply a moral standard to a criminal we don't address the crime. In this case you called him a sociopath, indicating that he might not know right from wrong. Thereby giving him license to commit his acts based on a flawed pathology.

He's an organized criminal based on the standard of FBI profilers who deal with criminals. When they used to investigate, that is.

Cheers!

Oh, this ought to be interesting.

I say, for his first pilot's test, he should be given a ride on a centrifuge, to approximately 2,000 rpm. Afterwards, ask him if he has anything he would lie to talk about before his next ride at 4,000 rpm. Repeat as necessary.

This man is a New Zealand citizen employed by Air New Zealand as a Ground Engineer. He is also a licensed Flight Engineer and was in Miami to do re-current training. He has 1000's of hours of flight experience. New Zealand is none to happy over the number of international laws that have been broken, including being interrogated without the NZ consulate being informed.

Piss on New Zealand. Another socialist wasteland. After 3,000 of their citizens have been murdered in an unprovoked military attack, perhaps then we may entertain their pissant concerns. I don't care if their "citizen" was certified by the King of New Zealand. They obviously have been spending way too much time with their sheep. Buttholes!
