The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals' decision striking down the Pledge of Allegiance as unconstitutional because it contains the phrase "under God," is an outrageous example of judicial activism and overreaching. It also underscores the importance of our third branch of government

I hope this hasn't been posted yet. There's some good info here on how often the 9th Circuit has been overruled. Too bad there are only 5 vacancies. I wonder how Bubba got to appoint 14 judges. They must've timed their retirements for a liberal administration.

Hey this did have some good numbers to it, not just the overturns, but how many were appointed by Clinton. This is great stuff to write your newspaper with, as I just did.

Thanks for the post GulliverSwift...

Orrin Hatch was Chairman of the Judiciary from 1994-2000.
He helped put 'em there.

I only posted this because of the stats. But in one sense, Hatch was just following the Senate's tradition of approving nominees, a stark contrast to the current situation.

Orrin Hatch and other Republicans could have tried to obstruct nominations like Tom Daschle is doing during Bubba's terms, but they would never have been able to get away with it in the press like Tom Dasshole can. The liberal media just ignores it when it's Democrats doing it.

But I did expect at least a little fight from these guys, especially after the treatment of Bork and Thomas. Instead, he let through leftists Breyer and Ginsburg (eg) with little committee discussion or floor debate on how far to the left they are.

Following the 'rules' or being 'nice' to the RATS or the leftist media doesn't work, as proven by the election results since 1996. We've been on a losing track since then. They are going to have to stand up to both and fight, not an easy job but they better figure out how to do it.
